"I'm counting down the days until I'm Mrs.______, but until then….."

Ok, the dress is ordered, the reception place is secure. You got your engagement pictures back and the both of you look beautiful on the outside. The pictures do not show your stress and possibly frustration on the inside. People are starting to voice their opinions. Everyone is telling you what to do and you are fighting with your spouse about the budget. Is there anything you can do to help this time go by as smoothly as possible? Yes! Here are some helpful hints that I have used over the years, along with resources to get you through this very exciting, yet sometimes trying, time:
Try starting an engagement journal. Write in it whenever you feel stressed or worried about something. Before you go to bed at night, write down your thoughts and concerns so you don't have to have a restless night. Putting it down on paper often helps ease the tension. It may not look so bad on paper. And even if it does, at least you have something concrete written down, a real problem that you can strive to resolve. Also write about the good things that happen between you and your fiancé or during your planning. After you are married, this journal will serve as a precious memory from your engagement.

Spend at least ONE day during the week where you do not do ANY wedding planning! Now I know this sounds hard, as you probably work full time and need all the time you can get to do wedding planning. Leave some of the details and minute tasks to an expert, like a wedding planner, and take a day off! Free your mind from the endless details and tasks and just do something for yourself. Whether it's going to the spa, getting your nails done, a massage, a walk in the park, working out, or just going to Barnes & Nobles and NOT reading the wedding magazines, but sitting and reading a good fiction novel with a hot cup of coffee…just do something! For a couple of hours, the whole day, or one hour. Spend some time not doing wedding things so you can be refreshed & renewed to tackle the next task. (For ultimate pampering, we recommend any of the three Upper Hand Salons located around Houston. Contact the Owner, Rachel Gower at Rachel@theupperhand.com and tell her I sent you! Or visit them at www.theupperhand.com.)

And the best advice I can give you? Hire Belles & Beaux Bridal Consulting to help you during your engagement! It's one of the best investments you will make for your wedding!
